If you’ve seen the first season of Peacemaker, you’ve borne witness to the oddest opening dance number to ever grace a comic book TV adaptation. In it, John Cena as Peacemaker leads the rest of the show’s characters in hypnotic herky jerk choreography that captures the neurotic kookiness of the series from James Gunn.
Peacemaker is coming back for a second season, and with it, according to Alan Tudyk, will be a new opening dance sequence. Tudyk has an inside scoop about it because the show’s choreographer, Charissa-Lee Barton, is also his wife. And in a recent interview with Collider, Tudyk teased that she was working on “a new dance number” for Peacemaker season two.
The new opening will have a lot to live up to: the first, set to Wig Wam’s “Do You Wanna Taste It,” was a viral sensation and also featured strong commitment from Peacemaker’s pet eagle, Eagly. It is, to put it simply, a joy to watch.
Sadly, we’ll have to wait a bit to learn what song will kick off season two, and what dance moves Cena and co-stars will bring to the small screen; we don’t know when exactly the new episodes will premiere, but Gunn has said that it will come out after Superman: Legacy flies into theaters in July 2025.
In the meantime, we can watch the first season on Max and bask in the dancing prowess of Peacemaker getting down to “Do You Wanna Taste It.”
